Happy Saturday!

I am so glad its Saturday. Today will consist of some packing and maybe a housewarming party. I haven't decided yet if I feel like going. Chris will for sure go, but I am not sold on it yet. I saw the SATC movie last night and loved it. There was a line in the movie revolving around Charlotte's pregnancy that really irritated me, but otherwise I thought it was perfect. I cried and I laughed. It was so great to see them all again. I would definitely go see it again!

On the TTC front, I am 8 DPO and am anxious for my 1st test on Monday. My temp fell a little today, but its still well above the coverline, so I am trying not to overanalyze. The packing stuff should keep my mind off of my impending test date, I hope!

Hope everyone has a good weekend. Stay tuned for testing updates on Monday.

Last few hours of my birthday

So, obviously I am back from CA. We made the trip back on Monday and my goodness was it hard to come back to Chicago. I think that everytime I part from my parents and sister that it gets more and more difficult.

On the bright side, I had a delightful birthday. I rocked my new grey dress and tangerine peep toe pumps. I got taken out to lunch and dinner. I can't really complain.

On the TTC front, I did actually ovulate last Friday. I was so excited to ovulate you would have thought that I was pregnant from my sheer joy. Hopefully our timing worked out. I will do my 1st test at 10 DPO (Monday) since my LP was only 10 days last cycle.

The acupressurist totally messed with my head yesterday. He said that he asked my body whether or not I was pregnant and that he got a response but wouldn't tell me. He said that his factor of being right is too risky. I told him that there is no way that he would know at 4 DPO whether or not I was pregnant since any potential fertilized egg had not yet implanted. He told me that I gave him the same response as the girl who referred me to him did when he told her that he asked her body whether or not she was pregnant. She actually was/is. I told him I didn't want to know. As I was finishing up my visit with one of his assistants, he came over to me and said, "you know, conception is different than implantation," and then walked away. I was dying. I think my exact words were "You have got to be kidding me. Are you hinting me?! Get outta here." I am seriously trying not to over-analyze. I've been pretty good about not thinking about it thus far, but I bet it'll mess with my mind again when I see him tomorrow. Just thought I'd put that out there. Damn doc....

Cannot.keep.my.eyes.open

Ok, seriously, I don't know what is wrong with me today. I woke up, came into work, was here for about 2 hours then WHOA--the intense yawning and closing of the eyes started. Now I've eaten lunch and its even worse. I might have to go outside and get some fresh air to wake up! Its only 12.30 and this day is just going to move at a snail's pace if I don't wake up.

I am so excited to go home to CA tomorrow. Its been 3 months since I've seen my mom and dad and I can't wait to hug them both. Hopefully Leo won't be a demon on the flight over. Usually he's pretty good since he's lightly sedated, but he starts to get restless towards then end of the flight. I also hope that I don't have to listen to Chris complaining about how uncomforatble he is in his seat.

I won't be too comfie on the plane due to a nice muscle spasm I had in my lower right back yesterday. My acupressurist actually said that it was due to my ovary--this is based upon, of course, the symptoms I was describing to him surrounding the time I started to feel the pain. Oh well...I'm sure I'll be just fine.

Let's take a break from TTC stuff and talk politics. Can we talk about how much I love Obama?

Ok, seriously. Back in the fall when the democratic candidates starting campaigning more vigorously, I was completely torn between the 3. At first I thought my allegiance would lie somewhere between Clinton and Edwards. I decided that I would sincerely review all issues and stances of the candidates and base my vote in the primaries in that fashion. After much research, I was torn between Obama and Clinton. Yet even in my mental tie, there was something about Obama that I was drawn to. I really started to do my homework on the 2 candidates and came to realize that I almost all of my views aligned with Obama and that pretty much the only reason I was even remotely drawn to Clinton was because she was a woman. I didn't want to vote for someone just because we are the same gender.

To me Obama represents a breath of fresh air that is long overdue in stale DC politics. As an undergrad and grad student (I studied International Relations for BA and MA, for those that don't know) I remember thinking how we needed someone with the characteristics that Obama has to really get this country moving in the right direction. Being an international relations geek, I really could not get past Clinton's vote to go to war in Iraq. Anyone that knew their IR politics would know that this was a bad idea. Both my undergrad and grad programs were generally quite opposed to the war. If it was so clear to students that studied politics, why wasn't it clear to the decision makers who live and breath in the arena of politics? It baffles me.

All that being said, I think that Clinton has been a formidable democratic candidate, but I am very eager to see Obama take the nomination. I'm also not opposed to a VP ticket for her should Obama take the presidential nomination.

Tuesday that feels like Monday

Ok, so I don't know why I can't stop blogging now. Maybe I need this avenue to express my ramblings and frustrations about TTC. June will be month 6 of TTC. I remember when I went off the pill at the end of December that eveyone was saying "Oh, you'll get pregnant right away after the pill." Low and behold, here I am in May and I've only ovulated 2 times. I hate that people give me false hope (I know better now though). I want to know who these doctors are that say the women are most fertile the 3 months after BCP. That is the biggest crock of shite I have ever heard. I have heard the "fertile after the pill" line quite a few times and a gut feeling always told me it was wrong.

For a few years now I've had this bad gut feeling that I would have trouble getting pregnant. And here I am, having trouble getting pregnant. Hell, I can't even ovulate properly yet have a chance at conceiving. I know I should be patient, but patience left me last month. I have encountered so many others that have it much worse than I do, but that doesn't make this any less painful. It's very difficult to not measure self worth with your ability to get pregnant.

Oh and by the way, the CBEFM gave me a "low" today...icing on the cake.

2 entries in one day!

I'm such a good little blogger today! I had a decent day at work and just came back from my acupressure appointment. The doc said that things were looking good today. Low and behold I come home and take my daily OPK...its positive. But looks the same as it did the other day when I had a false positive--damn you OPKs! We'll see what happens with the last stick of the CBEFM tomorrow...if its Peak, then we're golden. I still can't believe I'm on CD 26 and haven't Oed yet---rotten cycle. In the mean time, I think I'll go play Phase 10 with Chris and then play my new favorite computer game: http://www.travelpod.com/traveler-iq/usa?78

I'm seriously addicted to this geography game. I'm pretty good at the world one...the U.S. one, not so much.
