Sharing the news

Yesterday we shared the baby news with my extended family. I called my grandparents and aunt in Croatia first. My grandpa's reaction was priceless. I could visualize his happiness and his facial expressions. He told me that he was even teary-eyed. God, I miss them so much! My aunt was super cute about it too. She was so excited that she is going to be a great aunt (at 39, mind you).

My other grandparents had just flown into CA from Croatia for a winter visit. It was my grandfather's 77th birthday yesterday, so I was excited that I was able to tell him on his birthday. As happy I was to share the news with the rest of the family, a part of me was really sad that I wasn't able to be with all of them in person. Apparently my father got pretty wasted yesterday from all his celebratory drinking. He had been keeping the secret for the past 6 weeks, so the man was bursting to tell people!

In baby news, I am still battling on and off nausea. Some days its better, some worse. But its definitely always the worst after dinner. My boobs are still killing me. Overall, everything is the same as it has been for the past month or so.

DH and I went to PF Chang's for dinner on Wednesday night. I had the gnarliest craving for chicken fried rice. I got the coolest fortune in my fortune cookie. Remember when we got our BFP, that cycle we got a fortune from PF Chang's that said "Your present plans are going to succeed" (?) Well, this time, I open my cookie, and its says "daughter" in English and then the Chinese translation. Of course our baby's health and well being is first and foremost, but DH and I have always wanted a little girl. So, that fortune is extra special to us....and we'll just have to wait and see till January!

10 week ultrasound

Everything looks great! Baby is measuring exactly 10 weeks. My EDD is confirmed as being 6/23/09 (2 days earlier than initially calculated). S/he was 32.55mm and had a heartbeat of 163 bpm. For the most part, s/he was just laying there, but we did see the legs move and the arms move about. At one point the baby waved at us--it was so precious! I have my actual "monthly" check up with my OB on Monday.

I now feel much more comfortable sharing the news with my extended family. I am telling my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins on Thanksgiving. I will call my family in Croatia in the early afternoon and then will call CA later that day. I can't wait to hear the reactions!

I bought my 1st pair of maternity pants today. They are super cute light gray cords from Target. I am will be wearing them tomorrow with a cute maternity sweater (that could be a non maternity sweater) tomorrow, that I got from Old Navy over the weekend. I can still fit into some of my jeans, but my work pants are starting to become a problem. None fit without a bella band and the band is seriously starting to get annoying. I hope to invest in some more pants once some sales come around next month.

I would post the u/s pic, but no matter what I do, the scan turns out awful. Just picture a little gummy bear waving at you :)

I've changed my tickers!

So, since my last u/s revealed that the baby measured 2 days ahead, I figured I might as well give myself the 2 days--WOOHOO! Week 9 here I come!

3rd u/s - 7 weeks

Sorry for the slight delay! I had a monster headache yesterday and could barely look at the computer. Yesterday's u/s went great. The baby is almost 4 times the size it was at the last u/s; from 3.43mm to 11.19mm (1/2 inch)--right about the size of a blueberry! He/She is actually measuring 2 days ahead at 7w2d. We saw the yolk sac again as well. The little heartbeat was pumping away at 153 bpm. I officially "graduated" from the RE yesterday.

After a change in plans, I actually went for my OB physical yesterday evening. Everything from a physical standpoint looked just fine. I have gained 1.5 lbs since my pre-pregnancy weight. Which, I'm pretty sure is all in my boobs (I'm busting out of a 34 D). I have my next u/s on 11/25, at 9w5d (I don't get to see baby for 2.5 more weeks :( ), and then my next OB appt on 12/01 (10w4d). Between the beginning and middle of December I go in for my genetic testing b/w and NT scan (doc instructed me to come in between 11-12 weeks). DH and I have decided to proceed with all available screening. I also have to get a flu shot after 1st tri.

I have the new u/s pic at home and will post later :)

In terms of what I am currently experiencing, I am still battling the nausea. Some parts of the day are better than others. I can by no means allow myself to overeat, that's when it gets the worst. I've been very tired and my boobs need their own zip code (and they are killing me). But I definitely am a happy camper :)

Update to my nausea

Friday went by without any throwing up. I managed to keep snacking the whole day and then once we went out to dinner with our friends on Friday night, my nausea was gone. Saturday was ok...pretty much felt queasy all day but never full on nauseated. I read about how if you eat something small before you go to sleep, you won't be as nauseated the next morning. I have done that on both Friday and Saturday night and it seems to be helping thus far.

Today Chris and I went to breakfast...and I over-ate....and am nauseated again. But, it seems to be getting better as time goes on. I could not help myself, though. Those buttermilk pancakes were melting in my mouth...
